Do you ever get caught up in the rush of Christmas that you lose focus on the real reason the season is celebrated with such passion? All too often, it seems, you plan, expect and even cry a little under the pressure of the hustle and bustle. And then… in all the hurriedness, finding a gem brings a much-needed quietness. Sometimes it’s something someone says to you as you greet each other in the crowded mall. Sometimes you hear it in one of the many Hallmark Christmas movies that have filled the airwaves this year. Sometimes it’s in a song that you’ve heard for years, but this year you hear something you missed. And sometimes it’s in a card, and you just have to share it.
I read this poem recently, written on a Christmas card. Apparently the author is unknown, but whoever wrote it, Thank You! It is a beautiful reminder of what Christmas is really all about!
If you look for Me at Christmas,
you won’t need a special star –
I’m no longer just in Bethlehem,
I’m right there where you are.
You may not be aware of Me
amid the celebrations –
You’ll have to look beyond the stars
and all the decorations.
But if you take a moment
from your list of things to do
And listen to your heart, you’ll find
I’m waiting there for you.
You’re the one I want to be with
You’re the reason that I came,
And you’ll find Me in the stillness
As I’m whispering your name.
Love, Jesus
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counsellor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
