The Hiding-place

As a blogger, I have tried to honour your time with a meaningful interruption in your day. So, please allow me to bend your ear once again on a word that is front and centre in my life these days. I trust it may cause you to ponder, perhaps even contribute in a positive way to where you find yourself on life’s journey. Discernment: having or showing good judgement, or as I have interpreted it, the need to understand and make a wise decision based on truth. In Philippians 1, Paul wrote to the...

Pain and Its Rippling Effects

Lately, my right knee has been giving me a lot of pain. Anti-inflammatory pills don’t seem to be helping, so I’m relying on pain killers until I see my doctor next week.  I’m sure I’ll be told what I already know: I have arthritis! God Keep Our Land

We decorated our friends’ golf cart and participated in a long parade with dozens of other enthusiasts. ‘Red and white’ was the colour of the day, unless, of course, you were a Toronto Maple Leaf fan and ‘blue’ dominated. (It made me think of the Sesame Street song: “One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn’t...

A Battle Won!

Most of us would agree that life is unpredictable: there is no way we can be certain of what lies ahead from one day to the next. Sometimes we win, as I’ve experienced recently with an award for my current novel. Sometimes the winding and troubled road of life seems to allow truth to fall on deaf ears, and it is beyond our control to help those who feel backed into a corner. The following is a story, penned for those struggling with such moments… when life appears as a winding and...
